Giving Thanks

So, in the US, November's big holiday is Thanksgiving.  A lot of people seem to do 30 days of giving thanks - 1 thing a day.  I've thought about that.  Wondered if I should do that.  It's easy really though - if you think about it.  30 things to be thankful for.  These past few days, weeks and even months, I have found myself increasingly down and not really feeling thankful for anything.  There are things to be thankful for and I "know" it, I just don't "feel" it.  Every day feels like a constant battle to be "happy", "cheerful", "making the most of everything".  Sometimes, I get scared that I will truly lose something or everything just to show me what I do (did) have.  Life goes on with or without me - so I had better keep up or miss out.  Keeping focus on what I do have and being thankful for that is hard for me and so instead of one thing a day, I have decided to do Ten Reasons to Give Thanks Daily.

Day One - November 1st (I know that this is being posted on the 9th)

  1. A loving God, who is always with me.  He never moves away from me although I often move away from Him.
  2. A Saviour - I wish I was perfect but unfortunately I'm not even close - and don't ever get close.
  3. Miles - a wonderful husband who so diligently works hard to provide for his family both financially and with his time.
  4. Skyler James - yes, I will list my children separately, not to give extra numbers but because I am thankful for them both as individuals.  Skyler is my only son.  I am thankful to have a son, who will carry on the family name.  A son who will be able to go out and do things with his dad and a son who is a blessing to us both (and a challenge ;) )
  5. Jayden Grace - She was with us for such a short amount of time but has made a huge impact on my life and will continue to do.
  6. Vivianna Joy - A blessing that was given during a time of mourning.  She is my joy.  I love my son dearly but there is also something special about having a daughter.
  7. My parents - I'm thankful for the time that they have invested in me from birth until now.  I feel very lucky and blessed to have a good relationship with my parents.
  8. My sisters - I could list them individually but for now I'm going to group them together.  I have 4 sisters and all of them have taught me and helped mould me into the person I am today.  I am very thankful I was not an only child.
  9. My inlaws - There are always jokes about the inlaws.  However, I again am lucky and blessed to have a great relationship with my inlaws and all of my husband's side of the family.  Esp since they are a lot closer than my family right now.
  10. A roof over my head.  It's so easy to forget the simple things like a place to live.  It's not really until you see and are interactive with those who do not have this basic need, that you really think about it.
So, there are my first ten things that I am thankful for (see how easy it would be to get 30 - just posting one a day).
